Photo: Elisabetta Bello Photo: Massimo Sestini MARIA TERESA LEVA SOPRANO (SANTUZZA) Maria Teresa Leva was born in Reggio Calabria in 1987 and completed her singing studies in her home town at the Francesco Cilea Conservatory. In 2013 she won the Ottavio Ziino Singing Competition and was awarded the Jury Prize at the Città di Bologna competition. Since her 2014 highly acclaimed debut as Mimi in Puccini’s La Bohème at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, she has appeared in various roles at many opera houses, including Teatro Regio in Turin, Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, the Lombardian Theatres Circuit, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Opéra Grand in Avignon, Teatro Liceo in Barcelona, Deutsche Oper in Berlin and Semperoper in Dresden, as well as in Tokyo and the Terme Caracalla Summer Festival in Rome. STEFANO LA COLLA TENOR (TURIDDU) Stefano La Colla was born in Turin in a Sicilian family. He graduated from the Conservatory “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno, and continued his studies with Luciana Serra and Carlo Meliciani. He has won the First Prize at Voci Pucciniane competition in Torre del Lago. After the first successes in Italy, he started his international career in 2011. The turning point was in 2015 with his glamorous debut at Teatro alla Scala under the baton of Riccardo Chailly. He was immediately invited back to La Scala to perform Turiddu's role in Cavalleria Rusticana. He has sung in some of the most prestigious opera houses in Italy, such as the Teatro alla Scala, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli and Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, and abroad in the Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper and Staatsoper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Liceu de Barcelona, De Nationale Opera Amsterdam, Staatsoper Hamburg and more. In December 2017 he made his US debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, performing with great acclaim as Calaf in Turandot. This is his first appearance with the Israel Philharmonic.
