Born in Puglia, he began studying singing in Lecce with sopranoMariaMazzotta. Among the winners of the prestigious “Voci Verdiane” opera competition in Busseto in 2006, he made his debut the following year at the Teatro alla Scala inMilan as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly under the musical direction of Myung-Whun Chung. Since then, he has performed at prestigious international houses such as the Royal OperaHouse Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Vienna Staatsoper, Paris Opéra, Bavarian State Opera, Sydney OperaHouse, NewNational Theatre Tokyo, Festival La Coruña, Palm Beach Opera, and the Savonlinna Festival. He regularly performs in leading Italian theaters, such as La Scala inMilan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Teatro Regio in Parma, and Teatro Carlo ץ Felice in Genoa. This is his first appearance with the Israel Philharmonic Israeli-Belgian mezzo-soprano Anat Czarny is a soloist at the Israeli Opera. She graduated from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at the Tel-Aviv University. Anat was a member of the Israeli Opera's Meitar Opera Studio. At the Israeli Opera, she performed the roles of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dido in Dido and Aeneas and many more. She performed as a soloist with all the major orchestras in Israel including the Israeli Philharmonic. Anat was a Finalist in the Cesti Baroque Opera Competition in 2015 and is a recipient of the Berkovic, Besser and IVAI scholarships. She is also the recipient of the Rosenblum Prize for Performing Arts for the year 2022 in the promising achievements artist category. Anat made her European debut with the role of Le prince charmant in Cendrillon (Massenet) at the Theater Freiburg in 2017. She sang the roles of Siebel in Gounod's Faust at the Theater St. Gallen in 2020, and Dryade in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos at the Salzburg Landestheater in 2021.
