Hatikvah – Music heals communityThe Hatikvah Project highlights the power of sacred Jewish music to comfort and create hope.

Just over a year after the events of October 7th, a series of free concerts will take place across Israel to commemorate the day, mourn the fallen and provide citizens with hope. The Hatikvah Project will stage 18 concerts by 13 orchestras in big cities and remote regions alike, covering a total of 13 localities. The project is made possible by the Azrieli Foundation, with the participation of professional, academic and youth orchestras.

With concerts taking place in separate regions of the country yet in the spirit of unity, the music we make collectively will envelop the community through its diversity and richness, transcending time and place— from Western classical music to Judeo-baroque, from contemporary classical Israeli to light Israeli, from Andalusian to piyyut and North African and Sephardic prayer modes and more. The sounds will create a whole greater than the sum of its parts: Sacred Jewish Music.

Against the backdrop of the dire disaster, we seek to employ music’s magic to offer healing and renew hope.
