Season Opening with Lahav Shani and Maxim Vengerov – Commemorating one year to October 7th
In the first concert series of the 2024-25 Season, we chose to perform two works from the extremes of the emotional spectrum that have characterized the past year: Mahler‘s Symphony no. 6 (“Tragic”), a stormy, dramatic and philosophical work, depicting the composer’s reflections on loss, human fate and love. The other work is Mendelssohn‘s Violin Concerto, which begins with a melancholy melody and ends with hope, joy and optimism. Side by side, these two great works are musical romanticism at its best, between the personal and universal.
