This concert is dedicated to the heroism of Israel Philharmonic founder Bronislaw Huberman, who risked his own life to save Jewish musicians from Europe.
At the beginning of the concert, we will honor Huberman’s memory with the Jewish Rescuers Citation of the Committee to Recognize the Heroism of Jewish Rescuers During the Holocaust in cooperation with Bnai Brith.
Before the concert on the 19.1 the audience is invited to watch Josh Aronson’s film, Orchestra of Exiles, which portrays Huberman’s four-year journey and his heroic struggle to save Jewish musicians from Europe, bring them to Palestine and to establish the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The film features Itzhak Perlman, Zubin Mehta, Pinchas Zukerman, Joshua Bell and others.
Program:
17:45 – Opening words of historian and Holocaust researcher Prof. Gideon Greif, member of the Committee to Recognize the Heroism of Jewish Rescuers During the Holocaust.
18:00 – Screening of the film “Orchestra of Exiles” (85 mins.)
20:00 – Before the concert, a brief ceremony honoring Huberman’s memory with the Jewish Rescuers Citation.
Free admission to the film for concert ticket holders. There is no need to register in advance.
