Sivann Maayani, who joined the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013, is a summa cum laude graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and won many prizes while still a student, including a bow made by Charles Beare. Her principal teacher, Lydia Mordkovitch, was David Oistrakh’s pupil and assistant.
She has performed in many UK concert venues, including the historic Hollywell Music Room in Oxford and the Purcell Room in London. In Israel she has appeared in the Etnachta series, the Israel Music Fest and at the Kol Hamusica in the Upper Galilee Chamber Music Festival.
She has made solo appearances with the Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Le’Zion and the Israel Camerata, as well as in revivals of Ben-Haim’s Violin Concerto with Raanana Symphonette under Omer Meir Wellber and the Haifa Symphony conducted by Noam Sheriff. With her duo partner, pianist Ishay Shaer, she has appeared at the Bartok Festival in Hungary and in South America, London and Germany.
Sivann Maayani is a recipient of America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships (1989-2002), and prize-winner of the Best Performance of an Israeli Work – Solo Violin Sonata by her uncle Ami Maayani – at the Aviv Competitions (2008).
She has released a CD entitled The Polyphonic Violin, featuring works by Bach, Ysaÿe, Ernst, Bartók, Ami Maayani and Carmel Raz.
Sivann Maayani plays a Gagliano violin lent to her by the Founder President of the RAD Group Foundation, Yehuda Zisapel.
