What age did you begin playing a musical instrument?
I started playing the recorder at age 8 and the clarinet when I was 10 years old.

What age did you understand that you wish to pursue a musical career?
Around the age of 14, after starting to study with Eli Heifetz and participating in courses of the Jerusalem Music Center.

Name an unforgettable moment with the IPO
There were many moments like that. I especially remember concerts with Kirill Petrenko, Manfred Honeck, Mendelssohn’s symphonies with Kurt Masur, Schubert’s Great Symphony with Riccardo Muti, and Mozart’s clarinet concerto with Zubin Mehta.

What do you love to do off stage?
I love traveling in nature, especially the kind of several days from one cabin to another. Lately, I went with my wife to the Tour du Mont Blanc, as well as hikes in the Austrian Dolomites and Alps.

Which kind of music would we find on your playlist?
I mainly listen to classical music. Bach, Mozart, Schubert and Brahms are my top favorites.

What is the special significance of the IPO to you/Why did you want to be part of the IPO?
The IPO is the leading musical institution in Israel, and it allows me to play with top tier conductors and soloists, who are a source of inspiration. Moreover, other musicians play in such high level that I feel privileged to play next to them. In addition to that, as a son and grandson of imigrants from Germany, I see deep meaning in the history of the orchestra’s founding by Huberman during the period before WWII, rescuing European Jews and their culture.
