Born in Genoa in 1984, Matteo Lippi trained under mezzo-soprano Laura Bulian and in 2007 began working at the Teatro Alfa in Turin. In 2011 he won a scholarship to study at the CUBEC Accademia di Belcanto in Modena and began studying under soprano Mirella Freni. In 2013 he won the Toti dal Monte International Competition and made his debut as Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème in the operas of Treviso, Ferrara, Jesi and Fermo. Since then he has performed at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Rome Opera, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Norwegian Opera and Ballet in Oslo, the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, Opera Holland Park in London, the Israeli Opera and Glyndebourne Festival, among others. This is his first appearance with the Israel Philharmonic.
