Gabriele Sagona studied singing first with his father, Vincenzo, and subsequently with mezzo-soprano Biancamaria Casoni. In 2009 he made his debut as Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème with the Rossini Orchestra in Pesaro and was the only bass in the finals of the AsLiCo Competition. Since then he has appeared in the major Italian opera houses, among them Rome, Verona, Florence, Naples, Turin (including a tour of the USA) and La Scala in Milan, as well as in Malta, Limoges, Palau de les Arts in Valencia and Oman. He is also very active on the concert stage, with a repertoire ranging from Bach and Mozart to Fauré and Franck. His festival appearances include Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Verdi Festival in Parma, the 41st and 42nd International Operetta Festival and Haydn International Festival. Gabriele Sagona has collaborated with renowned conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Roberto Abbado, Nello Santi and Gianandrea Noseda. He has appeared with the Israel Philharmonic in Puccini’s Tosca under Zubin Mehta.
