Dalit Segal was born in 1970 in Rehovot and began her musical education at the local conservatory. She studied the horn first with Jacob Kling and then with Yaacov Mishori, former Principal Hornist of the Israel Philharmonic. In her youth Dalit Segal was a member of the Young Israel Philharmonic, took part in the MATAN Project, was a member of the Young Musicians Unit of the Jerusalem Music Center and won America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships. She served in the IDF Education Corps as an Outstanding Musician.
After her military service she joined the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and studied with James Madison Cox, Principal Hornist of the Israel Philharmonic.
At the age of 22 she joined the Israel Philharmonic and was sent by Zubin Mehta to Juilliard, where she studied with Ranier DeIntinis. Since her return to Israel she has been Assistant Principal Hornist with the Israel Philharmonic.
Dalit Segal has also appeared as soloist with the major Israeli orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic. She is also a teacher and several of her students have become professional hornists with Israeli and international orchestras.
