The IPO Academy

The IPO Academy

a newly launched 2-year excellence program by the Israel Philharmonic, the first program of its kind in Israel.

We want to inspire and develop outstanding young musicians, integrate them into the orchestra, train and mentor them, and offer them the unique opportunity to prepare, in a community of top musicians, for an orchestral career.

A unique opportunity for young talent and a “game changer” for the future of the Israel Philharmonic.

About

The IPO Academy will offer places for eight participants from Israel and abroad, starting in October 2024 with the first cohort of four academists. Subsequently, each year, four students will join and four will graduate from the Academy so that the number of eight academists can be kept constant and might even be expanded at one point in the future.

The founding of the IPO Academy was made possible by the generous support of Stewart and Judy Colton.

The IPO Academy complies with the principles of independence of gender, religion, and nationality and stands for diversity and equality.

Curriculum

  • Orchestral training in performances and rehearsals (including international tours) with the IPO, internationally renowned conductors, and soloists
  • Individual 1:1 tuition from orchestra members and mentors for technical mastery, repertoire development, and performance skills and score analysis
  • Chamber music training with IPO musicians, including concerts as part of the IPO’s Chamber Music series
  • Audition repertoire and presentation training, mental coaching, and practice/mock auditions
  • Participation in educational projects of the ‘IPO’s KeyNote Program for Music Education and Community Outreach’ as well as social impact activities of the orchestra in the periphery
  • Partaking in masterclasses by international soloists

The IPO Academy provides a comprehensive and immersive experience that prepares for successful careers (including successful future auditions!) as orchestral musicians.

It is this passion for music and dedication to the profession that the Israel Philharmonic wishes to pass on to the next generations.
